Story Begin

Riou & Journey is a youngster that join with Unicorn Youth, a Brigade from Highland. This squad are prepared for a big war. But they canceled relegated to the battlefield because of the peace agreement between Highland and Jowstown.yang already approved

The evening before returning to the city shelter and Jowy Riou, Unicord Youth Brigade was attacked by unknown persons suspected opponents. But they both know that they are attacking army led by Luca Blight (Prince royal Highland)

he aims to start a war again. Riou and Jowy trying to escape by jumping into the river flowing. Riou apart from Jowy and rescued by the warriors that was from the mercenary. The adventure begin from here.

True Rune - Bright Shield Rune
while in the ruined city, Toto on the way to Muse. Pilika (a girl who close to Jowy) shows a secret cave.inside the cave, they found an inscription, and when examined they suddenly move to another world. There they met with Leknaat, then shows the two paths can be chosen by both of them. In the end of they're journey, Riou then get the Bright Shield Rune while Jowy get the Black Sword Rune.

Both 'rune' is a fraction of the 'Rune of Begginning' and in fact the two owners of this 'True Rune' will always destined to fight with each other.
As said by Leknaat in each series 'Suikoden', how the fate of 'True Rune' future will be determined by the holder itself. Will it take the owner to the destruction or peace.
